One of the most important things you can do…. is make time for you – and you will never go back

Did you know that most mums work a 14 hour shift, 7 days a week

That’s the equivalent to 2.5 FULL TIME JOBS.  It’s no surprise therefore that we feel overwhelmed, burned out, frazzled, fed up, physically and mentally exhausted.

How is that overwhelm affecting you? What is the impact of this on you?

When I work with my clients, one of the first things that I ask them is how can you create time for you each and every day.  The brain needs time each day to de-charge, to rest, to empty and to be at peace.

Just that SIMPLE act of making 20/30 mins a day for you can literally be all you need to start feeling better.  Literally.

Here’s some ideas for what to do in that time:

  • Listen to a meditation
  • Read a book/magazine
  • Drink a cup of tea
  • Lie down and listen to the radio or podcast
  • Nap
  • Journal
  • A creative project – art, crochet, etc
  • Yoga
  • Walk

Integrating every day rest or regular time for you is something we can be so resistant to.  We are so full of stories, programmes, patterns and beliefs (or excuses) to why we can’t do that.  Can you identify where is your resistance… where is your resistance to making time for you? Write everything out….

I resist making time for myself because….

  • I’m too busy/I have too much to do
  • I have no one to help me and I can’t justify asking for help
  • Housework is more important than me
  • It’s failure to ask for help
  • I’m too proud to ask for help
  • Making time for me is selfish
  • It’s not fair on my partner because they work all day
  • No one else can manage my children as much as I can
  • I’m not worth it
  • I feel guilty

Consider using EFT to help you…. here’s an example to tap along to….

“Even though I feel making time for me is selfish, I accept myself and I know making time for me will benefit everyone in my family”

You can now learn EFT easily through this FREE course, Tapping out of Overwhelm or if you’re based in Edinburgh come to my next workshop.

And if you get really stuck, get in touch and find out how I can help you.

Once you start seeing the benefits of DAILY rest and time for you… you will never allow yourself not to rest. The benefits to it will ripple out from you to the rest of your family, community and society…. try it for a week and notice the difference.

Much love, Tricia xxx

Coping strategies for everyday frustrations

Oh my effing jebbing…… Since school has returned we have literally been plagued by bug after bug. We should have a big red cross was painted on the door with the words ‘Lord Have Mercy Upon Us’ just like they did when there was the bubonic plague.

I just feel like….

I just feel like….

A lot of my clients come to me often with the description….I just feel like….

I’m struggling/I’m drowning/I’m shouting too quickly/I’ve got a constant knot in my stomach/I’m anxious/I’m not being very nice to my partner/I could be doing it better/I’m not coping/I’m finding work or family difficult/I’m having intrusive thoughts/I’m unable to sleep/I’m ruled by my to do list/I’m burned out or exhausted….. it goes on….

These are the symptoms of ‘overwhelm’ and the day to day impact of your reaction to your current situation.

What’s taking up all your energy….

What’s taking up all your energy….

This is the work I love to do as it provides you freedom from burn out and anxiety. Life feels much more aligned. You can much better perspective. You can think rationally and clearly. Life is happier, calmer and easier. And within all of that, it returns your energy as you are not so constantly exhausted.
